Question about Chords
« on: October 11, 2006, 07:53:28 AM »

Hey everyone,

Im just starting to really start chording, but im a little confused. Say for example im doing a 1-3-5, unlike a keyboard player i cannot hit the triad at once, because the 3 and 5 are on the same string, so do i do them 1 at a time or how does that work. I run into a lot of progressions and the nots are on the same string, so do I strum them out, it them one at a time or what? Thanks and God bless!

use another string.  I use 3 and 4 sting chords a lot.  Here's a page that displays some chords for a piccolo bass.  you can use them on a regular bass because a piccolo bass is the same just tune an octave higher with small piccolo strings.  hope this helps.

The Bass software I utilize stated to use your thumb, index and middle and make sure you are applying the equal amount of pressure to each string for an even tone. Is this what you guys do? I haven't added this to my practice yet...

You play them one at a time on bass. Reason because with the low end all will sound muddy. Now on the 6 and up Bass with the smaller strings.
You maybe able to play at the same time easier and clearer.
