Not sure I understand the question.  Can you try to be a little more descriptive?  Maybe give an example of something you've heard that you are trying to duplicate?

Peace,

James

'when you slide from one fret to another'...........
You just explained it yourself!

Something is very fishy about your posts here! You post 4 or 5 new threads at a time asking for help in areas an 'intermediate' player would usually know! Your avatar is another clue as it doesn't reflect the attitude this site portrays! Or maybe it's just me with the problem?!

The slide is a easier way to move from fret to fret, without taking your finger off the string.
But by doing the slide it add some flavor to the groove.

You can start off by doing Root slides

start at the 5 fret on the E string and slide down to the 12 fret then go down to the A string 12 fret.
This can be done on each string play with this.

Okay, you apparently understand what a slide is.  It's moving from any one fret on a string to another fret somewhere on the string without removing your finger from the string.  My confusion comes from the fact that you specifically ask about applying it to blues?  A slide is a slide is a slide.  Doesn't matter if you are playing blues, jazz, rock, or gospel.

TBlock and Godsbassman are right on point when they explain to you what a slide is and that it is just a simple technique for adding a little flavor and spice to a bass line.  That's why I asked if there is a particular song where you've heard a slide that you are trying to duplicate.  Like any other technique, it CAN be OVERDONE.

Peace,

James

I mainly use a slide to end a song. Using the key of the song and slide to 12 frets to the octave.

ie: I would play the G on the E at the third fret and slide up to the 15th fret to the G and hold that til the Keyboard stops playing.

Well, I'm just the opposite, I use a slide to start off a song.  This helps me find the key and gives the bass it's own "entrance" into the song.

Yea :-) If I were to start the song with a slide of come out the verse and start the chorus big I'd slide the oppisite direction from high to low.
