What is the best tuner for a five string bass

If your bass keep getting out of tune(dont know just saying) check your strings and get a setup

Not exactly a "cheap" tuner, but many of the better effects units or personal practice tools have built in tuners capable of tuning 5 and 6 string basses.

I have a Korg PX3B Pandora that does a very good job of tuning my basses.

My TASCAM CDBT-1 Bass Trainer also has a built in tuner, and so does my Zoom 506 pedal.

Off the three, the Pandora tuner is easier to use and correlates better with my rack mounted tuners (both rack tuners are also Korg)

I use a Korg GA-30 but I am probably going to upgrade to a CA-30 soon.

my Korg GA-30 has been dropped several times.  When dropped it opened but still works good.

It's definately nice.  My only grive is that it only tunes to sharps opposed to flats (i don't like enharmonics..lol).   I like to refer to my keys as flats, so i'm a little grumpy because I have to tune my "B" string down to "A#".

The DTR tuners have a MUTE mode.  Just tap the button on the front of the panel.  I think you may also be able to connect a foot pedal, but I manage quite nicely with the button.

my head  has a pedal that has a mute  and a solo switch, so i just stomp on the mute button then tune

I've used a TU-2 for years.  Very durable, accurate and has streaming mode which is useful for setting up intonation.  It also mutes so you can tune silently on stage.

I use a  tuner that is not stompable. I tune before we play. My bass holds it's for days so I really never have to tune again. I can get cute and use the tuner out in my amp and plug in my tuner and hit the mute button on the amp and tune silently.
