no that's real.  He has a webiste and videos of him playing it next to a REAL double bass. 

I'd even say that it sounds BETTER then the double (no lie!!).  Let me see if i can find the clip






(this is the one vs. a double bass).

Impressing people is at the bottom of my list. If I were, I'd much rather do it by the way I sound/play, not by with what I am playing on/through.
