Well, I have to say i have never ran into a LOCKED TOPIC b4..anyway..It took me alot of years to play music..and years of frusteration of getting my songs to sound right..I won't even say I play them correctly...when iam satified  i move on to another song.  It was about 5 years before I even had the desire to learn how to read sheet music cause so ..and I learn from this very old lady..that had alot of patience with my brains ..{going slowly, but surly}..I just don't get these chords thats posted..but..thats ok too..cause..I have learned to read music..and God made it possible for my heart to enjoy of little of joy.  I don't understand alot of this theroy stuff either..and number systems..but, I do kow chords and progressions..I have all kinds of books..fakes, chords, jazzy, progression books, how to read music, etc.  and I can't still tell a person how to play a song by the chords and the words and all that stuff..and u know what  I don't let it bother me anymore..I can't let others take the desire of music away from me cause God has showed them another way of making music ..I figure this, God must of wanted me to learn another way..the music..that i play..so that we can help one another..other ways.{Our brains are developed different ways}.It would all be boring if we all musicians sound alike in our music ministries. I encourage all of the musicians to learn all they can learn about music..if u have the ability to be as skillful as David was, its wonderful.  I feel bad when i read members ask for the chords to a song and I can't post it like i see on the site alot..I have alot of original stuff..but, until I sit down and learn how it done..I won't post nothing to confuse someone with...I tried on time posting a song and I think I made a mess of it..so I wcan I on't the entire crew to understand it..If I don't understand it..no one else will understand it. As, I close this thought..MAYBE ONE DAY I WILL BE ABLE TO POST MUSIC. :lol: Be encouraged.

Yea. I can understand your way. I know a lot of people that are more abstract than analytical, so it's harder for them to learn the theory of things, not just music. However there are a lot of people that are analytical, that can't understand abstract ways of thinking and can't seem to understand those that's-just-the-way-it's-done's.

Be encouraged indeed. You never know, you may hit one of those eureka moments, where suddenly everything becomes clear for you, or you could just be an abstract pupil and soon to be genius.

 Well, I neva thought about it the way you put it..the..analytical way and some people can't understand my..way..but, I am hoping that one day..all this abstract-way will come clear to me..that would be nice...I guess one person can't have it all ways..LOL

One of the problems about non-sheet written music is that different people think about it different ways.   Example is someone may type:

D / F A C E
G / F A B E
C / E G B D

while someone else may just type

Dm9
G13
CM9

while someone may type:

D / FM7
G/ FM7b5
C/ Em7

All are saying the same thing but in different ways.  That is why sheet music is the best way of writting down music because its not abstract, its very specific.
    The problem with that is that some of use can't read sheet music.  I was born with a visual impairment which basically prevents me from sight reading so that way isn't the best for some of us.
    currently right now, I am working on bring the site under one way of thinking to try help clarify alot of the theory stuff so just hang in there.

I've always been called a "backwards" person, or the type of person that a lot of people would've laughed at when I was younger, those things make a person a more jack-of-all-trades type person, in my opinion. That's me. I can do abstract and analytical things easily. So I grasp both concepts, the just-because's and the 123's.

I definitely understand what you are saying Bronzee. Do what is best for you. Be encouraged and keep your head up. Everything will fall in to place with God on your side.

 Hay..wannaB...Iam left handed so u know what people called and said to me...u r so backwards, your brains are on the wrong side..when i would fight i could do some good hook-up and knock box them good..thank God for the backwards hands...now,, I can go with my bass lines good...i do it backwards tho...I play the melody alot with my left hand..LOL..but iam playing more melody with my right..but, its hard.

Glory,,thats good thinking...I didn't think of it as that. Thanks..bless..thats a good idea u have there Glory..but,, I don't want the different kinds of methods to stop cause we may can't help some people..just talk a little more on the reading sheet music..and theory..cause i love challanges.
