that is a loaded question....
it depends on what kind of funeral you are playing for. (adult, child, saved, unsaved, COGIC, Catholic...the list goes on)
I usuall play soft chords or  familiar songs that even the occasional church visitor may know. but i usually transition into more of an up beat old school bounce right before the funeral starts. something like "glory glory"
But if it's a homegoing service LAWD!!!!!!!!
that usually turns into your normal service!
I hope that helps for the future

its a church missionary, a pastors wife. and i just need some songs and chords for when the family is viewing the body and when they are reading the obituary and when they are walking out. if the songs for when they are walkin out are congregasional just tell me the name.  but its a COGIC church.

A song for when they are walking into the church could be an upbeat song like "glory, glory" or "give the Lord the praise". A song that is good to play while the obiturary is being read is "precious Lord" or "his eye is on the sparrow" nice and soft. Now when they are walking out you could play another upbeat song like "in the morning when i rise" or " i'm a solidier in the army of the Lord" or something like that. If nothing else go by the move of God. Sometimes you know people can get in the sprit at a funeral. If it starts to sound as if they are about to start to praising God or if the service starts out on a high note keep it going with some good music. Make them want to shout!!! LOL!!!

I know that would make funerals better for me to go to.

Well God Bless,

Garrott

I hope you have all the help for the future.
I was once told to always pay attention to the words of the song too. You can being playing something like "Lord you are good"
and it may offend the family. In that time of grief, not everyone can handle certain words. SAVE OR NOT. Yes they may need the ecouragement to know that he is good. but at the time they may not be feeling that.
Even in  my church i have had that experience before  :-\
