O.K. Just to express my feelings of playing at funerals..... I DREAD it.  Playing for a funeral is a real test for me.  I mean I don't like playing songs that may make the familly just break down and start crying.  I try to keep it as up beat as possilbe (unless the family wants something sad and slow.) Another reason I dread funerals are the solos.  O.K. its a challenge (especially when you don't know the person that's singing)  anyway when i'm called to do it I must becasue that's apart of my  ministry.  :) Some more songs to add

Walking in the Light
Jesus is on the main line
Total Praise (I've heard it at funerals have not played it)
Rejoice in the Lord always, Again I say rejoice !!

Some more songs would be:

When we all get to heaven
When all of God's children get together (what a time, what a time, what a time)
None but the Righteous
There's a lily in the Valley
He is Lord
The Lord is my light and my salvation
Keep God first in your life

With my music department we try our best to sing uplifting, praise songs unless the family has already requested that a certain song be sung.  For example, we recently stepped out on faith a sang "Lift Him Up" By Hezekiah Walker, and the family thanked us b/c they felt that the song ministered to them to realize that no matter what they are going through now, through it all God is STILL Worthy to be praised.   We minister to the saints by trying to make the funeral as memorable as possible, and let them leave the service feeling somewhat better than they came.  Here's a few we do:

It will be alright-John P. Kee
I'll Make It- Hezekiah Walker
Sweeping Throught That City-Shirley Ceasar
So Many Times- Dorinda Clark
Yes-Shekinah Glory Ministries (This songs works especially well at funerals for young people after the eulogy)
Don't Wait Til The Battle Is Over, Shout Now-Lemme Battles

Just to name a few...

WELL A FUNERAL IS AKA A HOMEGOING CELEBRATION! IF YOU WERE HAVING A BIRTHDAY PARTY CELEBRATION, WOULD YOU WANT SAD SONGS TO BE PLAYED OR WOULD YOU WANT TO ACTUALLY CELEBRATE?

A FUNERAL IS A SAD TIME, BUT YET IS STILL A JOYOUS TIME. IF YOU KNOW THAT YOUR LOVED ONE IS GOING TO SEE THE KING, WHY ARE YOU NOT HAPPY FOR THEM! CELEBRATE!

BRING SOME LIFE AND JOY TO WHATEVER FUNERAL YOU GO TO. MOST OF ALL BRING YOUR PRAISE AND WORSHIP WITH YOU! BE GRATEFUL, NOT WOE IS ME. LEARN TO CELEBRATE
