Comparison of New Hammond Organs
« on: November 22, 2006, 05:28:04 PM »
Has anyone had the chance to compare a New B-3/C-3 with an XB-3/XC-3M?

Yes.  You dont want the XB3/Xc3 you want the New B3/C3.  No comparison.  I dont know why they still make the X-series.

Maybe because not everyone can afford a $30,000.00 new B3.

If you can't afford a New B3, the next step down is the XK System, not the XB3/XC3. The New B3 and the XK System (aka XK3) use the exact same VASE III sound engine, the only difference is, the New B3 has the multi-contact keyboard. So really, if you have the XK System, you're just using a smaller version of the New B3.

If you're going for the B3 look but don't want to pay so much for the New B3, you can spend a whole lot less on the XK System.  The XK System consists of the XK-3 keyboard - $1775, the XLK-3 (lower manual) in the traditional style cabinet - $1525, the traditional style XK stand - $550, and finally 25 note pedalboard - $1525 (I believe the pedalboard comes with an already attached EXP-100F expression pedal). That totals to $5375. You'll probably spend anywhere from $5500 to $5600 total when you include the shipping fee's.

You won't find these prices from places like Zzounds or Musiciansfriend. These are prices I got from ToneWheel General Hospital.

Well you can defintely tell the sound difference between the The New B-3 and the XB-3M because the tone generator is more advance making the new b3 sound better, however I think they both sound good, get whatever you can afford and make sure you have a leslie.
