Connecting my bass to the computer

Hey I have a question.  What type of device do you use to connect your bass?  Also how do you install it?  Thank you

If you're trying to record, you have to install an audio/PCI interface as well as a recording program.  You have to install a sound card and software.  Then you just hook the interface box to the audio card, open the program and do your thing.  You're probably gonna have to buy some external powered audio monitors if you don't have them already.  Too many out the to recommend just one to you.  Some of the more notable brands are M-Audio, Digidesign, Mackie, and Tascam.

You can get a 1/4 to 3.5mm adapter... Less than 2 bucks, at most places that sell audio cables.  here is a link online for $0.35

Plug your instrument cable into your bass, and the other end into the adapter, then to the audio in, or mic input of your sound card.

Or you could even run it through your amp, and out of the headphone jack, into your system.

This solution is not top notch, but it works for basic audio recording needs.
