What is the best tuner for a five string bass
« on: December 11, 2006, 06:20:30 PM »
I am thinking about buying a foot pedal tuner. However I have heard that many of the better models have issues with the b string.  What is the best and least expensive tuner that will work with a 5 string bass.

I have the TU-2, or i think thats what its called, by Boss and i have no complaints so far.

It has normal, falt, and double flat tuning modes for bass and guitar and goes for around 125 Canadian.

Boss also makes good standard tuners like this one:

You will find the cheaper tuners do not handlethe five string as well as others because they are commonly desgined forfour strings

I know you said foot pedal but this tuner for under $20 tunes my B dead on with every keyboard that I've played with. Someone said to me I think you should get a $100 tuner. I didn't even comment but I thought my tuner works great. But I do want this one.

It's those cheap-o tuners that have little pipes you blow on to get a note to come out...lol.  Then you tune until you think the note matches the sound you just made..lol

This model seems to be popular. It was my first tuner but I have given it away.

I know a lot of players that have it. At least 6 people.

These smaller units work just fine.  If you have a pandora, they also have a very good tuner in them.  The worst tuner I have is my expensive rackmount tuner.  It's slow and I really wonder how good.
