Jimmy Smith drawbar settings
« on: June 06, 2006, 04:22:40 PM »
I got this from Keyboard Magazine. Enjoy.

This drawbar setting will get you the classic Jimmy Smith jazz organ sound.

8 4.5 8 0 0 0 0 0 0

To play chords on a ballad, use this setting.

0 0 8 5 0 0 0 0 0

Hope this helps. :)

Actually the trademark Jimmy Smith sound is the first three drawbars out, and the four percussion rockers towards the back of the organ (on soft fast third).  It only works upper manual B natural preset.

That's funny. I had the privledge of meetinjg Jimmy Smith in my Jazz days. He was a down to earth dude. After one of his sets, I took a look at his settings. All stops were 0000000s. This was for curious by-standers (like myself).

However, his signature sound in F

FP/LH/RH
F/Eb A/Eb A C F
