Yes, if it's just about a group of people singing songs just to be singing songs.

No, if the Spirit is in the place and the congregation (that's mostly EVERYBODY) is participating in the GOD-FILLED encounter.

To me that is sort of like a trick question I wll say no because when you are in praise and worship and the spirit is moving throughout the building...u never jus wanna cut it off and move to the remainder of service while people are tryin to get they worship on.I mean think about it.someone is shoutin and cuttin a step and all the sudden the pastor gets up and does announcements or sumthin like that while there is 10 people shoutin and carryin on....to me that is rude....LMBO....let em shout and feel the prescence of the Lord and let the Lord work....

But on the other hand if the crowd is dead and nobody is really payin any attention to whats goin on during this time then I would have to say yes....cut it and move on because obviously there are people who are still bound up and tryin to hang on th thier problems and don't wanna give it to the Lord yet.

Most chuches "Plan" for 30 minutes of worship leaving room for what ever the Spirit dictates.

A P & W leader "MUST" be spirit filled and sensative to the moves of the spirit....

Is it a shouting day or is it a crying worship day, is it time to switch songs or continue to echo this one.
Sometimes allowing the spirit to lead you to pick the right song can minister to a person's heart.

Like others have said, if the spirit is moving and people are worshiping, never just end the music for time sake.
Unless the man of god/pastor is telling you to cut the music.

Amen, Amen---Cus if my Pastor sees something in the Spirit and the team isn't there...they will be sitting down very quickly or the team may be a soloist of one or she will lead us into the palce where God desires at that moment because it isn't about just singing, its worship and getting to where God wants us to be at that hour...whether its on our face on the floor or rejoicing---we have no time limit!

But I was a worship leader at a church where we did have a time limit, no matter how God moved...needless to say, I'm not there anymore!

We have three services, back to back. We are a "mega church" with "mega people". The first two services must flow in a timely manner. We can't afford to run over time every service because people are waiting for the congregation to get out of the parking lot so that they can park for the next service. Also, there is the issue of the Nursery. Children must be checked out sop that the next group can be checked in.

Do you realized how disorderly things would be if the P&W Leader claimed that the Spirit Led him to go on and on every Sunday? God wants things to be done decently and in order. The P&W leader would be lying. That's why you need to go to the one whom God has given the vision to---the Pastor.

We usually do two P&W songs during the 1st two services. The third service is not restrained by time. The P&W Leader has to submit to the desgn that the Pastor has given him. If he claims the SPirit Led him to do something else he would be lying, because he would be out of submission to the one who is in authority over him--the Pastor. The P&W Leader would be caught up in his own emotions--doing his own thing.

We run a 20 minute countdown clock, which has been initiated by our Pastor.  Because he is not in town by the time service starts, this is the mandate he has put on Praise and Worship.

I agree, great answers. 

A good friend of mine is the MOM and P&W leader at her church in Vegas.  Their purpose as given by the Pastor is to set the atmosphere for hearts to receive the Word.  Their church's mission is focused on reaching the unchurched population in their area.  This demographic does not want to stay in church all day, if you want them to come, you have to be cognisant of this.   She is anointed to do what she does, and has to be very in tune with the Spirit as far as song selection, duration, etc.  Their job as a team is to bring everyone's mindset into worship and to prepare their hearts to receive what the Lord is going to speak through the minister for that day.  She told me if the atmosphere is right after one minute of one song, then they sit down and the speaker immediately gets up.  Announcements, offering, etc. is done after the Word has gone forth and the altar call is finished. 

I love visiting this church, I think they understand their purpose and where they fit as far as ministry, and they are focused on doing it well.

just how i see it ?   the praise and worship period is the only time in fellowship god recieves from us....worship ...from us to him
                            all other things he has given to us .......his word ..etc
                            He also promise if he be lift he will draw all me to him,therefore i say no time limit

I feel there should be a time limit but that time limit should be waved whenever the Spirit of the Lord decides it's time to DWELL...

We have between 15-20 minutes at my church and we generally don't run over that much... we are subject to our spiritual angel and if he's out there and says keep going, we keep going...
