Most Overrated/Underrated Professional Athlete

For most Overrated, I nominate Terrell Owens.

He can be a gamebreaker on some games....But he can drop a whole lotta passes too.

For most Underrated, I nominate Marvin Harrison (yea, I know.  Same sport, same position)

All he does is catch 100 passes and NOT drop balls.  Yea, I know he's already considered great, but I believe he's one of the best EVER.

Too many on both sides to pick just one.

There's so many.

Perhaps the most overrated of all time is John Elway.  The way the press was carrying on when he won the Superbowl, you would have thought he won the game by himself...lol

Several months ago, the most overrated (well, overrated by the Texans) was the most recent #1 NFL draft pick; I forgot dude's name...lol...People in the front office, many times I just don't get them.

The current most underrated is the entire supporting cast on the Lakers.

I must agree as well. Terrell Owens talks too much for all of his Superb.....oh wait, he doesn't have any rings, does he?  ?/?

Then he should SHUT UP!!!  ;) ;D

First, Mario Williams is his name. Second, the Texans got played (AND PAID, I'll bet) by the NFL, in order to allow the Saints to acquire Reggie Bush. Why? One reason, money going into New Orleans for the clean up after Katrina.

Just look at the facts. If it weren't for the Detroit Lions, the Saints would be the bottom feeders of the NFC (and have been, at times, even with the Lions, and you can throw in the Cardinals, as well).

Don't you think it's odd that, all of a sudden, the Saints can play football? Talk about things that make you go, "Hmmmmm...."   ;)

As for the Elway comment, because of his stats and his ability to play the position, it was just fitting when Elway final won a ring. The same will be true for P. Manning, IF that ever happens.

The most underrated of all time was Tom Brady at the time he has drafted (199th overall).

By the way, T.O.'s hype practically causes every other offensive player in the NFL to be underrated.  Do you remember Hines Ward’s performance last season?  I didn’t fully realize he was such a stud until the playoffs, and that lack of knowledge had a lot to do with T.O.'s hype.  Everybody knows Harrison is a bonafide stud.  If not for T.O.'s hype, Harrison's coverage and rating seems about right to me.

Most overrated too me is #1 Brett Farve, #2 Michael Vick
Most Underated too me is #1 I agree with Marvin Harrison, but I believe he likes it that way and it by design.

I can DEFINITELY see M. Vick as being overrated. Matter of fact, it might be a tie between he and T.O.  :D

That seems kind of like hindsight.  During the draft, there was no lack of people who provided well thought out reasons for not choosing Bush as number one.  Bush just sat there and took it like a man.

Also, there's too much money involved with football franchises for me to believe the conspiracy that you suggest.  I truly believe Houston is feeling stupid right now for not choosing Bush.

Bush was asking for like one million too much.  So, the Houston owner(s) decided to stick it to the black kid from USC.  Look how that turned out for them...lol...The people with money at Houston let their egos get in the way, and it messed everything up.

If New Orleans wins the Superbowl in the next couple years, that draft misstep will officially be known as the Curse of the Bush...lol

Reggie Bush is overrated to you?  Have you watched all his games?  He has been clowing folks as a rookie.  Did you forget he's a rookie?

I don't think anyone is saying that Bush is overrated. TV's assessment is correct, however. From the backfield, Bush is playing like a rookie. But, when you get him the ball in space, he's an incredible threat.

As for my conspiracy theory, just wait and see, my friend. To the public, Houston may be made to look foolish for now, but I think it'll all come out in the wash down the road. Only time will tell.  ;)

Current most over-rated imho is Eli Manning.  Good quarterback, but not as great as the press has made him out to be.  Archie's son and Peyton's baby bro is just so-so.

Most over-rated ever, sticking with football, has to be either Tony Mandarich or Brian Bosworth.  Both 1st round draft picks.  Both total busts after being outted for steroid use.

Most under-rated (until this season, his last) is Tiki Barber.  I'm sure there are others, but I've always felt he never got his due.

Peace,

James

Most overrated:      Yao Ming...........just another in a long list of STATUES!

Most underrated:    Gilbert Arenas.....sik sik sik sik sik sik GAME!!!!!!!!.....I saw him from floor seats, and with the exception of Iverson,
Dee Brown, and Kevin Johnson, he is the quickest cat I've seen......period.

I'd rather be imperfectly inspired, than to be perfectly entertained...
