Musician Needed -- Springfield, Illinois
« on: December 30, 2006, 05:00:30 AM »
Local church here is Springfield, Illinois is in search for a musician.  I know it may not be my place to put this in the lounge.  But this is a very prominent church with one of the world's greatest, down to earth brothers as the pastor.   This church is well established and has recently built from the ground up a new building adjacent to the former one.  They have been in service for more than 150 years. This churches choir is great, willing to learn and follow.  This church has the state of the art sanctuary with   balcony, musicians pit, large choir stand, gymnasium as well as a fellowship hall, not to mention countless numbers of classrooms for Sunday School and other teaching needs.  You will not be dissappointed.  Only interested applicants should apply.  You must be willing to let God first lead you, commit to long hours throughout the week of studying and teaching music along with other music ministry leaders.  Know your place as a musician and or minister of music, be willing to listen to others and accept constructive critisism when given.  You must be able to handle practicing and playing for multiple choirs in this church family, such as the youth choir, mass choir, adult choir, male chorus, senior choir, the praise and worship team, and of course be able to keep up with the Pastor during his run hooping.
Yes, there will be times when you can't please everyone, because as we all know, change is difficult.  But, I must applaude the choir members of this ministry which has had to adapt to many changes, such as a new pastor, who is dynamic, two Ministers of Music within the last two years, death of longtime choir members, and also having to participate in The Baptist Pastor Fellowship Choir which is comprise of more than 7 baptist churches here is Springfield.  I would hate to see this position go unfilled for any lenth of time.  I would apply for it myself but I am already committed and contracted with another partner church.  I am unsure of the payscale and requirements, but if anyone is looking to relocate and share his/her gift from The Almighty Father,  Please hit me and I will submit necessary info right away.  I believe some auditions have already begun, but not complete.  Please help us.  Before you apply, please have a little talk with Jesus to make this thing right.

Just out of curiousity for those of us who are not master musicians, play in every key, know how to read and play by ear, play all styles.  When musicans "audition" for these jobs, what is the "audition" like?

Do you have people auditioning who have like played for recording artists, written/produced music, and just in general what is required at this level.  Can you give us a general idea?
