OUTRAGED....BUT NOT SHOCKED!!!
« on: December 30, 2006, 12:29:25 PM »
I AM JUST VENTING OUT LOUD (and praying at the same time for a "complete" attitude change):

The youth lock-in is now almost over.  The classes this morning on "how to be successful in a job interview" (for boys) and "how to put on makeup" (for girls) went on and on - 30 minutes OVER the scheduled time limit.

So, MYSTERIOUSLY, my mom (the coordinator) decides that all the kids are sleepy from being up all night and really don't need to sit through another session.  Of course, conveniently, THE SESSION SHE ASKED ME TO DO GOT CANCELLED!

My topic was YOUTH ISSUES.  I had a list of the most common questions that youth ask in reference to their spirituality, dating, sex, depression, abuse, etc...and scriptural references as to where these things would be found in the Bible.

I am OUTRAGED (honestly) that the one piece of the seminar that was supposed to enrich the kids spiritually got eliminated!  Actually, I'm MAD (but praying for an attitude change before I leave here)!!!

Then she had the nerve to look over the material and realize that it actually was "some good stuff" and asked if she could keep the materials for future youth events at GPHMBC!!!!  OH MY GOD!!!

In the spirit of fairness (and being the compassionate person that I am), I gave her the copies of the questions.  Sorry...but they'll have to look up the scriptures on their own and I AM GOING HOME NOW.

As hard as I worked (up until 4 this morning) putting it together (and coordinating the lock-in), it was the ONE PIECE of the whole puzzle that got mysteriously eliminated.

I was already "disturbed" that Complete Change was asked to do the Praise & Worship Hour, and the basketball coach (my uncle) didn't want the kids to sit on the floor for fear that they would damage the basketball floor...even though they all had on tennis shoes.

BUT...when they got ready to do the "talent show", where kids were rapping, reciting poetry, cracking jokes, and doing "fun stuff", they let the kids sit RIGHT on the basketball floor and they called them "the studio audience".  OUTRAGED...BUT NOT SHOCKED!!!

Maybe the goal was more about having fun than ministry, and I just missed it!

Y'all pray for your boy, hear?

Don't let your good be evil spoken of.  It sounds to me like you have some good and annointed material and your mom (don't know if you mean Mother or Min. of music, but anyway) recognised that it was.  If it was annointed by God then it will not return void.  Now if you don't supply the accompanying scriptures due to your flesh being hurt, you may allow the devil get the victory by hampering the message.  Then your good may be evil spoken of.

Besides, your Mom may have done the right thing by saving the material for a time when the young people are less tired and more focused to receive the message that God has for them through your effort.  Just keep doing what you're doing, that is praying and your attitude change will come. ;) ;)

Peace.
I am what God says I am, no less and no more.

Be not dismayed.  REAL and TRUE ministry sometimes gets stepped on, pushed to the side and ignored--ministry when you give it your all-HURTS.  The one important thiing is that we are ministers of GOD and whatever HE has planned ffor the release of this information will be in His timing and will be a powerful meeting and change and destroy some things in the youth.

In my opinion, you should vent (respectfully, of course) to your mom/MOM.  Sometimes adults are clueless to the thought processes and feelings of kids/young adults.  You could really be helping her by letting her know how your material being omitted affected you.  A friend of mine used to live by the addage that "closed mouths don't get fed".  In your case, it means that if you don't speak up, then your concerns will never be known, and there may be future omissions of like nature.
