I AM JUST VENTING OUT LOUD (and praying at the same time for a "complete" attitude change):
The youth lock-in is now almost over. The classes this morning on "how to be successful in a job interview" (for boys) and "how to put on makeup" (for girls) went on and on - 30 minutes OVER the scheduled time limit.
So, MYSTERIOUSLY, my mom (the coordinator) decides that all the kids are sleepy from being up all night and really don't need to sit through another session. Of course, conveniently, THE SESSION SHE ASKED ME TO DO GOT CANCELLED!
My topic was YOUTH ISSUES. I had a list of the most common questions that youth ask in reference to their spirituality, dating, sex, depression, abuse, etc...and scriptural references as to where these things would be found in the Bible.
I am OUTRAGED (honestly) that the one piece of the seminar that was supposed to enrich the kids spiritually got eliminated! Actually, I'm MAD (but praying for an attitude change before I leave here)!!!
Then she had the nerve to look over the material and realize that it actually was "some good stuff" and asked if she could keep the materials for future youth events at GPHMBC!!!! OH MY GOD!!!
In the spirit of fairness (and being the compassionate person that I am), I gave her the copies of the questions. Sorry...but they'll have to look up the scriptures on their own and I AM GOING HOME NOW.
As hard as I worked (up until 4 this morning) putting it together (and coordinating the lock-in), it was the ONE PIECE of the whole puzzle that got mysteriously eliminated.
I was already "disturbed" that Complete Change was asked to do the Praise & Worship Hour, and the basketball coach (my uncle) didn't want the kids to sit on the floor for fear that they would damage the basketball floor...even though they all had on tennis shoes.
BUT...when they got ready to do the "talent show", where kids were rapping, reciting poetry, cracking jokes, and doing "fun stuff", they let the kids sit RIGHT on the basketball floor and they called them "the studio audience". OUTRAGED...BUT NOT SHOCKED!!!
Maybe the goal was more about having fun than ministry, and I just missed it!
Y'all pray for your boy, hear?
