THIS HAS GOTTEN OUT OF CONTROL!!!! (that topic again, but SO WHAT!)

Today was my wife's birthday.  I stopped at Kohls's (sp) and bought her some nice silky pj's and other unmentionables,.......ok I bought them for me but she'll be wearing them.    Anyway, I got a nice gift bag and then decided to get a nice card to go with all this.  The card aisle was very well stocked with every kind of card you can imagine......with one exception.  Among the literal thousands on the shelves, not one single card had the word 'wife' anywhere on it.  There was not even a 'wife' section in any category.  There were a tiny amount that said husband and many, many, MANY that said "my partner" or "my partner for life" but 0 that said 'wife'. 

I don't know about anyone else but I see this as one of many shots across the bow in an attempt at eradicating the preeminence of God's institution of MALE/FEMALE marriage in this country.  In addition to my feeling of personal disgust at what this world is coming to is the feeling that I and many other Christians have been sleeping at the switch.  I feel personal about this because I have been one that has taken a 'so what else is the devil up to' approach to these things.  I can be quoted on this very site as taking this approach by responding to a rave by Nakia by saying something to the effect of, 'Christians shouldn't get so upset and should act like we know we have the victory'.  Although I still believe this, I have to say that today I feel like I need to be a bit more vigilent in this spiritual war.   

This is getting ridiculous.  While we are getting more and more shy about speaking out against the sin of homosexuality, EVEN IN OUR CHURCHES, they are using our shyness against us.  I consider eradicating my choice to use the term 'wife' in referring to my "partner for life" to be highly offensive. 

Just a couple of hours prior to entering the Kohl's store, I was at a fast food place and saw a teenage couple of girls hugging and holding hands like they were Adam and Eve.  My teen age daughter tells me that there are many girls her age in her school that kiss and hug openly throughout the school and a few have even hit on her.  For those of you that think we shoud be very "patient" and "understanding" of the plight of homosexuality, this is the result of our coyness.

Now, in all seriousness, the homosexuality spirit in today's schools is just crazy. Period. Again, I know because I'm a teacher (middle school) and I see it, first hand. The problem isn't so much with society (not that it ISN'T a problem) but moreover a lack of parenting within the homes of these children. NO ONE is speaking OUT against this thing, and so like any virus that goes unchecked, it begins to infect itself EVERYWHERE.


It's time to wake up, people of God. It's time to talk about this mess openly, harshly and frankly and tell our children what is and isn't the truth.

That's just my view; chew the meat and spit out the bones.

I don't know axeman1, I see wife cards all the time.

But anyway, I did notice the openess lately.  For example, a group of us went to eat after watch night service, and we were sitting there laughing and talking havin a good ole time, and it seemed like all of a sudden, it was was like a convention or something.  These young men and women came in and were all hugged up, holding hands, kissing, laughing etc,    and one young lady even looked at our table at the young ladies and had this big ole smile on her face.  I was like  what the world is going on!!!

The perspective that I see is that parents have done a poor job of discussing sexual topics in our homes. That has been a trickle down effect that has come from our fellowships. We have put sexuality in categories of sin outside of marriage. Of course it is sin if it is outside of the marriage covenant however a more comprehensive strategy. I have believed that the homosexual spirit either gets a pass or an extreme response. Really sexuality as a whole can recieve that treatment.

It is my sincere belief that we must cry loud and spare not in certain situations. There are cases that we must wisely address sexuality when it comes to our children. The problem is that our churches get caught up with trying to fit into the world's system instead of taking a radical approach to ministering to our kids. WE will lean with it or zoom with them but we won't give them the truth.

Youth and sinners respect us more when we challenge them. Does that mean all of them will take heed? Of course not. When it comes to sexuality we must began to reverse some of the culture. Explain to them the safety of abstinence vs. the percieved safety of "safe sex". We have done a poor job in our community from a christian perspective. The world is passing out condoms without information.

I remember when I was 12, I asked my mom how she would feel having a gay daughter.....

She stopped the car on the road got out, and slapped me in the back of the head..... LOL........ Now dont get it twisted, I wasnt coming out to her, but so many of my friends were gay and their mothers were gay, my mom never talked about it much at home, so I never knew how she felt.... Needless to say, that day I asked the question, I found out that its wrong, and I got slapped for it.

Parents are getting younger, teachers are younger, churches are younger..... There are loses of wisdom in mass proportions.... Society makes homosexuality seem as equal to being black, by calling them minorities too, by allowing them to protest for gay rights, and in SF celebrating Lavender Day, and allowing Rosie ODonnell to have a gay cruise.

We can tell our kids all day that its wrong, but if they are not taught with a biblical foundation.... then you are almost setting them up to fiail. They leave your house, but go to live an alternate life somewhere else.... Sad but true.

Its on TV, the radio, in the church, in the ministry, on the street, at the store, in the park.... all over. I have seen the Life Partner thing for a little over ten years now, being from the SF bay area... and I was taught to adapt (taught in school)... One of my teachers told me... " You dont like being called a ni66a, so dont call them gay. They are people just like us"... When we found out she was gay, it all made sense.

We just gotta pray and teach our kids, and have faith that they will follow Gods word no matter what anyone says.

The trouble with your former teacher's statement is all Blacks aren't ignorant (the original meaning of said offensive word) BUT these folks are living a homosexual lifestyle. Big difference.

2 more words.....not good. Their kids are going to have to learn to deal with those who aren't like them, and more importantly, show the Light of Christ to them. 


Now, if you're saying to home school them because of the poor educational system, that's a different topic. 

We were very apprehensive about the prospect of home schooling when we started over 15 years ago. Relatives, co-workers, so many people told us that our kids would not be able to get along in society. It seemed even more daunting because the administration in power, a the time, was very unfavorable to homeschooling and not too many people seemed to be doing it.

We found that the naysayers were very much misinformed. All of our kids get along well with others and are witnesses as well. Our kids are leaders and not followers. I've noticed that even the other kids at church look up to them. They are well liked.

A preacher once told me that the decision to homeschool must be a conviction and not a preference. He was so right. I'm so glad that we did it.
My conviction was that I wanted my children to be raised in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and not Humanism. I wanted them to learn about the God who made Heaven and Earth and not in a spontaneous "big bang". I wanted them to learn that they were made by God, in the image of God and not by an electrochemical process that evolved from a blob millions of years ago. What kids need is reading, writing, math and true science.  After that, whatever History, Social Studies, pseudoscience (evolution) they get is at the discretion and morality of whoever is doing the teaching. And believe me, the Government is going to teach what THEY want you to know when it comes to History, Philosophy, political and social sciences.
So we let the government teach our kids whatever they want to? My kids are too precious to me for that?

Thank God that we still have freedom enough in this country to homeschool and worship without government interference.
I'm afraid this won't be the case for much longer.

Sjon and Furious for President!! Ok now since my candidancy has been announced please go out to the polls. Wayne you are absolutely correct in your statements on how we may not enjoy some of the freedoms that we all enjoy now in the future. As a categorized Negro, African American colored person, I must say that our educational value has always been different from the white community.

Scholarship in the ghetto is not only discouraged but looked upon as impossible. Thankfully you were able to home school your children. You could raise them up in the high ideals of faith and values. That was your right however the disturbing trend that dates back centuries for people of color is the fact that resources are miniscule for us and the working poor. Economically the masses of our people cannot compete. Among the undeducated in socities throughout history you find poverty, sickness and disease. That train is never late.

The Remnant of us who make it sometimes struggle with our individual responsible for the community. What further divides our country is the fact the working poor of this country(the middle class) buys into the system of race, class, and inequality. It's a lottery type of mentality. We find ourselves chasing our proverbial tails. While the richest 1 percent of America truly builds wealth, we dream of the opportunity that we may get there to! It is absoulutely foolish.  Education in this country has become about what you can pay for rather than an endowment for all. That leads me back to my original statement. Education was only supposed to be for a certain class of people in the first place. I digress I hope all can see my point..

You know what, I can feel what you're saying, truly I can. I'm not one of those who'd say "don't home-school EVER". As a matter of fact, just a couple of months ago, I encourage a mother TO homeschool her child. Believe me, I understand that the gubment ( ) is running the educational show (and I wish I could change the channel!  )
