I am sick of WANNA-Be-GANGSTA musicians in church!

..this is the silliest thing I have ever heard....you make it sound like musicians just walk in...sit at the instruments...and start playing......who's the &*(($#@ that let them in?....that's who needs to get the lashing!.....It is your house and you decide who comes in......sure ....sure...it is Gods house....but you pay the mortgage and you got the keys....and you pay these fools too!!....so it is not the musicians that are perpetrating here...it is the church.....get a backbone and fire these creeps or at least hold up a standard.....and if it means that you have no music till you find real musicians with Godly intent....then so be it!

I don't think it's silly at all, if there are basic rules and guidelines, then it will get out of control.  Not just anyone can just be up there playing a music.  When people play there is a difference in playing with the annointing and playing with skills and something sound good.  think of David that played his instrument.  His annointing went through his placing, and hasting out evil spirits.  So if you know that you can play something in a person because of the annointing you have from Christ, and we know that the Devil try's to copy God in every way, then (just my theory) what if we can play evil spirits into someones life because of the spirits that musician is carried with them.  As one of my favorite songs, Get right church and lets go home. 

Now this post is about musicians, not the entire church so for the ones who is keeping bringing the church into this, that's another topic, let's stick with the musician that is the main topic of this thread.

We need to evaluate of who we have in the service that is ministrying in music.  Back in the days when my mother told me that churches was really HOly, The musician would have to be holy in order to be in the Band.  I'm only 26 so i havn't really experience that era...

We can't cover everything in every post. This was a post about a specific group of people directed at a specific audience-musicians. Generally, people try to say, 'it ain't just us' when they want to get the spotlight off of an issue that hits home.

I hope you're not missin' the message. Everything I speak of, I've seen repeatedly, all around the counrty. It's not everywhere butit's widespread.

Mayybe, I see more of it because music is really all I do, and have done for years.

I agree with you on the thread.... But you may want to work on your delivery a little better. This is an issue that may plague a lot of ministries, I dont think anyone is really denying that... but you came accross a little harsh in your tone as to point the finger at us.... Atleast that how it seemed.

What's the use in debating a point just to debate?  I didn't know he's been around for a while, so now I know.

Dont get it twisted sir, I know you been on LGM a while... it just shocked me at the way you presented it... I dont see it as a gangster mentality at all... I look at it as church mentality. NOT CHRIST MENTALITY, but church mentality. Ministers, and pastors allow the behavior from ther members and leaders for a number of reasons. Either pastor is doin the same, the outrageous acts that his/her leaders commit act as convenient coverups for other issues...

As musicians I see where it is easy to get caught up the riff raff... to have a worldly perception on things.... Ego, and recognition are monsters in the church. I agree with you 100% on the appearance, I mean, why would I want to get saved and try to straighten up in a place where the organist is the weed man

But what do we do? At my church, the other drummer uses profane language, he dresses like a thug and he is disrespectful to leadership.... Then there is a choir full of gay people..... with a fornicating director..... I am not perfect, neither are they, neither is anyone, but I STRIVE to be better, I STRIVE for excellence and to be just like Christ Jesus.... But while I appear to have my stuff together there is a whole ministry of folks who dont.... Its sad, but its an issue that doesnt really seem to have a resolution at this point.

Exactly, so this tirade, if you will, should be for the leadership because people are people are people. They're going to do what they do until God changes them.


However if, in their sinful state and how many of us are NOT in a sinful state , they are being hired or asked to participate in a ministry of the church; whose responsible for that? Not them, they're just grabbing an opportunity.
