How do I MAKE an mp3 or wmv of me playing??
« on: January 20, 2007, 02:05:42 PM »
I noticed a lot of people have posted mp3 and wmv clips of themselves playing and I'd like to know what software and equipment you all use to create them.  I want to be able to record audio of myself practicing and the tape recorder and my cell phone ain't cuttin it...LOL   I would appreciate any tips you can give me on creating some good quality, clear sounding clips.

I wish it were that easy, but I have an organ and a Leslie.  There are posts where people have uploaded clear sounding clips of themselves playing the organ and I'd like to be able to do the same.  :-\

Scrap Cool Edit (sorry biggharold, no offense) and just download the very functional and very FREE program called Audacity.

As far recording your organ. It depends on how proper you want to do this. I've tossed around the idea of properly micing my leslie for recording purposes, although I've yet to actually look into what all I need to do. When I record me playing though, I just use a mic and place it about a foot away from the Leslie. The mic is plugged into a 6 channel mixer and the mixer is connected to the Line-In port on the sound card of my computer.
