Does anyone know the pattern for melodic minor on a movable scale?

Essentially, it is a major scale with a flat 3rd (minor 3rd).

Harmonic Minor

From what I understand, the melodic minor was supposed to be resolved back to the natural minor scale when descending.  I'm not really sure why that was, but the modes that are derived form the melodic minor are essential to playing jazz.

The melodic minor scale is a natural minor scale with a sharp 6th and 7th scale degree ascending and just natural minor descending. ;D
