Prince is a great musician and showman, but i've never heard him play guitar and been blown away........he's cool at what he does.......but it just always sounds like sloppy pentatonic scales to me.

I think Prince is the greatest entertainer of our time.He compose, write, produce, play guitar, drums, bass, keyboard.I think he is a genius. That halftime show, people are saying all over tv,that it was the best of all time.It was in the RAIN.His last tour,he made over 100-millions dollars in six months, broke a attendance record, that pretty much says it ALL. :P :P

He did great, but I was thinking that I wish I could have seen more playing from him than he did.

I'd pay to see a Prince show, not to see him play the guitar. I could think of scores of guys i'd rather hear play guitar than him.

Prince has great master of the guitar, everything he does is something he choses to do.  If it sounds sloppy it was by design.  Listen to some of his rhythm and studio stuff.  Listen to some of the live recordings he's done.  To me Prince is one of the best guitar players of today.

to me that's what Prince is trying to channel when he plays, the Hendrix vibe.....but Hendrix was way more creative than Prince.......I'm really not doggin Prince, I have a ton of respect for him as a musician, he just doesn't do anything for me as a guitar player.

Prince is great. I don't like him for his amazing guitar playing, but more for his showman ship and his overall feel for music.
God gave me more than the gift to play music, but he gave me the world in which it belongs.

Prince is a great musician.  He can rock the funk and make rock funky.

If you think Prince can't rock a guitar and all you hear is sloppy pentatonics than you haven't heard much of his guitar playing. Or maybe you have not developed the ear for tonalities beyond pentatonics. He truly does way more than that.

lol, ok........i've been playing professionally for 12 years.....i know the difference. i never said he wasn't a good guitar player, just that he wasn't all that FOR ME.....and that hisplaying never really impresses ME. and almost every solo i've ever heard him play live or recorded is just heavily distorted/wah'd blues scale pentatonic stuff. that or little funk riffs. Prince is great at what he does, but he's not an unbelievable guitar player to me.

again, it's all opinions, and we are entitled to our own. but to post in here and say that i must not have the "ability to hear tonalities beyond pentatonics" just because i'm not impressed with someone is silly.
