UNDERSTANDING THEORY
« on: May 10, 2007, 10:28:21 AM »
i think i understand THEORY a lil bit. ?/?

for ex:
if i was in Eb. I was going from the 1, 3, 4
my bass notes are 1-Eb, 3-G, and 4-Ab. i know that the 1 is maj, the 3 is min, and the 4 is maj. my question in can i play any chord, as long as the 1 is a major chord, the 3 is a minor chord, and the 4 is a major chord.

ex:
      Eb/ Ebmaj9
       G/  Gmin11
       Ab/ Ab7

Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

You're almost right.  You can play any chord that you want as long as your bass note (bottom note) is correct.  That stuff about 1=major, 2=minor, etc. is only a starting off point for finding chords to go with your bass notes.
Real musicians play in every key!!!
