Name as many scales as you can with the key it is in also. For example...to start it off.Key of C: Major scale: C,D,E,F,G,A,B,C
Key of C: Dorian Scale: C,D,Eb,F,G,A,Bb,C
Key of C : blues scale C,Eb,F,Gb,G,Bb,CJlewis
Wouldn't the Dorian Scale in C be this? D,E,F,G,A,B,C,D
This is the C Dorian scale: C, D, Eb, F, G, A, Bb, C
How come it's not the C minor scale? You have a flat 3rd and a flat 7th.
How come it's not the C minor scale? You have a flat 3rd and a flat 7th. Wouldn't it be C Dorian in the key of Bb?
It wouldn't be C Doriain in the key of Bb, for the Dorian scale the first note is on the main key, the Bb Dorian scale would be: Bb, C, Db, Eb, F,G,Ab,Bb.
Wouldn't it be C Dorian in the key of Bb?
Then I guess the question that I have is, what is the difference between a scale and a mode?
The notes are right Derik, but the key is wrong. This is in the key of Bb.You are correct sjon, it should be C Dorian in the key of Bb. The dorian mode begins on the 2nd scale degree of a major scale. The difference is a mode cannot exist without a scale that it relates to.
