« on: July 24, 2004, 04:43:57 AM »
Hi everyone,

My name is Nathan.I have a problem in melody.I can play any chord by ear but when it comes to playing the actual melody-I do make mistakes some time. Please help me out.what I am trying to get is how to play the right melody with the chord.
And again what are the options for me to know all the key signature when refering to reading music.I am a beginer in music theory but I can play anything just by hearing.
Please help me out.

My E-mail address is kingsley2407@juno.com

Put your left hand in your lap. Pickout the melody to a nursery rhyme. Three Blind Mice, Mary Had A Little Lamb. simple scale melodies without a lot of jumps. graduate to America or MyCountry Tis Of Thee, God Bless America.America the Beautiful. Rich people who can afford 10 ft Steinway B Grand Pianos usually can't play them, but they can pick out a melody with their right hand.Nathan once you can establish a melody, add chords underneath the melody. If you play chords in your right hand, fit the melody note as the top voice of your chord. Then add bass in your left hand. If you play chords in your left hand. Play your melody in single notes with your right hand and match left hand chords note for note. Melody harmonization is important.Melody is the part people recognize without melody nobody knows what you are playing except you.
The greatest mistake most amateur musicians make is giving up.  Don't give up !!!
