Good afternoon, folks!
I'm new here; an acquaintance told me about the site when I asked him if he knew this song. He thought maybe you learned folks would be able to assist.
I consider myself a bit of an expert on 80's & 90's gospel. I know just about every song recorded in the 80's, and most of the stuff from the 90's. Yesterday, out of the clear blue, this song popped in my head and for the life of me, I can't remember who sings it. GRRRRR!!!! I hate it when that happens, especially since I'm admittedly a know-it-all when it comes to gospel music. I thought it was L.A. Mass, but I can't find it in their repertoire, so I guess I'm wrong. If I remember correctly, we sang this song at my grandmother's church in the late 80's. Anyway, do any of you remember it (it has a slow/medium tempo):
Choir:
For the rest of my life I will serve Him
I will not stray from His love
I won't turn back
For the rest of my life
I will serve Him forevermore
Lead:
For the rest of my life
I'm gonna serve the Lord
I shall not stray, I'm not gonna stray from His love
Even though Satan tempts my soul
I am determined, I am determined to reach my goal
I got a made up mind
And I'm going all the way through
One day, He fixed it for me
And here's what I'm gonna do
For the rest of my life
I will serve Him forevermore...
I think they repeat the choir verse, and then the bridge is:
Through the storm (alto)
And the rain (tenor)
Through sickness and pain (all parts)
Drive:
For the rest of my life (repeat until the lead falls out)
I will serve Him forever more.
I promise I will love you forever if you can tell me who sings that!!!
