HHHHHEEELLLLPPPP!!!!
« on: April 24, 2007, 07:09:21 PM »
Hey LGM Fam, Gotta problem.Ok, last year I was appointed choir director over our youth choir at church and an event occured where I had to be sat down for a couple of months, and my pastor appointed the director of our young adult choir to take over until I came back as a director; but when I did come back my pastor put me in as the asst. choir director and he told me in order to regain my full position I would have to join our Young Adult choir.

Now our young adult choir is full of drama and confusion due to the director. This choir from jump start has been one big mess, you got anything from homosexuality flowin in therre to fornication, and being the type of person I'am I choose not to deal with any of them.I mean even the director of the young adult choir has dirt on her so i dont see how she can try and lead these kids. Now not to say I'am holier than thou I know I got my dirt too,but I told my pastor how am I suppsoe to grow in a choir if the leadership is not trying and the members are trying to help each other. And he told me that I was being disobedient to the man of God and that I was practicing spiritual disobedience and if I didnt join that choir,he was gonna literally make get out of all the ministries that I'm invovled in including praise dancing and ushering and etc.And I told him that that wasnt fair and that if that is the case that other director can keep the kids choir.I'm not goin to subject myself to get caught up in a bunch of mess.I'm tryna move foward and get my blessings.

I really need some advice on this one guys....OPEN TO ALL SUGGESTIONS.....THANX IN ADVANCE

BEING HONEST,I THINK YOU SHOULD GET IN THE CHOIR.DON'T LET THEM PEOPLE STOP YOU FROM GETTING YOUR BLESSING.IT'S MESS IN EVERY CHURCH WHETHER YOU SEE IT OR NOT,WHETHER YOU KNOW IT OR NOT.IN THAT CASE THE PASTOR CAN SAY (NOBODY IS LISTENING TO MY PREACHING,AN I'VE BEEN PREACHING FOR 50 YEARS, AND THE PEOPLE IN THIS CHURCH STILL AIN'T SAVED I QUIT).HOW DOES THAT EXAMPLE SOUND?                                                                                                               EVERYBODY'S NOT GOING TO BE HOLY,OR SAVED.BUT,WE HAVE TO DO OUR PART,SO WE CAN STILL BE BLESSED.REMEMBER PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE TO HEAR THIS PART,BUT EVERYBODY IS NOT GOING TO HEAVEN.READ YOUR BIBLE,AN DO YOUR PART DON'T SAY A MUMBLING WORD,DON'T REACT TO ANYTHING ELSE.DO WHAT JESUS DID(JUST DO IT,WHETHER IT'S FAIR TO YOU OR NOT.LIFE'S NOT FAIR,IT'S PRECIOUS BUT NOT FAIR) BE BLESS
JESUS IS THE WAY.NO IF,AND,OR BUTS BROTHER AND SISTERS.AMEN AAAAAMMMEEENN

Well the Pastor has told you the choices.  The new question is can you endure the 'faults' in the young adult group to work towards your regaining of position. :)

Who said ministry was easy? Who said ministry was going to be fair?

If your Pastor told you to do something and he IS your spiritual head then obey and serve. Now if you have doubts about that then seek the Lord to confirm that's the place you need to be or if it's time to move on...

I truly trying to understand what you are gonig thru.

just recently  ibought this book called "The Bait of Satan" and it is a great book

it states: (Pslam 92:13) {to go along with the text}
Many people go from church to church, ministry team or ministry team, trying to develop their ministry. if God puts them in a place where they are not recogized and encouraged, they are easily offended. If they don't agree with the way something is done, they are offended and go. They then leave, blaming the leadership. They are blind to any of their own character flaws and do not realize God want to refine and mature them throguh the pressure they were under.

** I thought this piece of the text out of the book will help you out.****

lookey here...I think that God has told your Pastor that he needs you to be in that choir to combat that foolishness, remember in order to be a good leader you have to be a good follower. Get in prayer and confirm it with God. I know it is hard to go from the leader of an team to one of its member. You will be a better person after it is all said and done. Meanwhile, be a shining light in that team to the point that other members will be drawn to it that they might also shine.

In my honest opinion, I think that you should lean on God for this situation. The thing that I see a lot of people saying is that you should do as the pastor says, but my question is why should that be the answer? You stated that there is anything from homosexuality to fornication and such, but answer this, if I were a recovering homosexual, why would I hang with homos? if I were a recovering alcoholic, then why put me, weak in the body, and unable to fully turn from that lifestyle, into a situation like that?

So for the sake of ministry, I should put myself into a situation that is detramental to my growth? For the sake of ministry I should put myself into a situation that suggests temptation and is a possible set up for failure?

It cracks me up that people always say that the pastors way is THE WAY and only way we should follow? A lot of pastors have their own selfish motives for why they want their members to do some things. Pastors are not the only ones that can hear from the Holy Spirit. In fact, if I hear from the spirit and the pastor hears from the spirit, then they ought be in alignment with one another. My spirit wont tell me one thing and the pastor something opposite... but just because the pastor said wht the 'spirit' tells him, then what he says is valid???

I would say to trust in God with all of your heart and lean not to your own understanding, and acknowledge Him, in all your ways and He will direct your path... Trust what God is directing you to do. Dont fight it. If God leads you to that choir, then join to the Glory of God... He will set a light upon your feet so that you can clearly see your path.

Another thing that I see is that your pastor is forcing you and trying to intimidate you. Since when is ministry about forcefulness and intimidation? Did God truly tell this man to force you, or else? When God deals with us, does He say DO THIS OR ELSE? God Blesses us when we are not fully obedient to His word. God blesses us when we say no...

I understand about obedience to the leader, but sometimes, the leaders are looking through foggy glasses as well...

Again, take it to God, with a truthful, honest pure heart... fast and pray. He will give you confirmation of what you need to do... :)

Thanks everyone who responded with advice.I'm going to stay prayed up and steadfast. The Lord is the only one who is going to give mw the final result and if the answer from God is no then I have to do what my Father tells. But if the answer is yes then I will do what He tells me.Yes I should obey the man of God But I DO HAVE TO listen to the one who is in charge of everyone.
