Wah wah pedals!
« on: April 19, 2007, 11:04:55 PM »
Ok I want to get a wah wah pedal cause im going to be starting to play for church and I dont know which kind of pedal would produce that funky type of sound that would go good with upbeat gospel songs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I really like my Morley Bad Horsie, but I played a Dunlop 535 for years. The thing I love about the Morley is that it is switchless, so you just step on, wah, step off, done. No switching to worry about, and it really opens up expression, since you can hit it on a note here and there if you want to.

lol, that's the thing i disliked the most abouthte Morley...i like turning the wah on and using it at vasious postitions to get that nasally half-cocked wah sound......it drove me nuts to have to keep my foot on it in the exact position i wanted it the whole time......

Are you using a Bad Horsie 1 or 2?

Mine is the Bad Horsie 1, but I've done a lot of modding to it, so it still has the adjustable sweep and contour stuff.  I've never actually played the 2, but I would assume it's just as great.

Jlynnb, I feel you on the stationary wah thing, too, but it's not a huge part of my style.

I do have a vintage (well, mid-80's lol) Dunlop that a friend gave me for making him an overdrive, and I'm going to eventually build it into a super wah.  Right now, it's got one of those old-school tiny cap-looking inductors, and someone has replaced the pot with a sub-par replacement.

OR, it may end up a Uni-vibe... haven't decided yet.

You should try a RMC, Dunlop, or a Vox.

The Crybaby is a very very standard, widely used pedal.
