Billy Johnson (... born and raised in Philly) is the man... I had the pleasure of meeting him in Orlando a couple years back. He was playing with jazz guitarist, Joyce Cooley. His 3 stints with Santana ( for folks that don't know,
note He hooked Dennis and Carlos up!... he had the gig after Rodney Holmes and new Denis wanted to play with Carlos and Carlos wanted to play with Dennis.) His years with MAZE featuring Franky Beverly of the hook.
He was/is a very cool cat with groove and musicality for days. In our conversation. He was very disappointed that the younger genreration are players and not musicians. As well the absence of bands these days is disturbing.
