Trying To Figure Out Biorhythms.
« on: March 14, 2012, 12:06:34 PM »
This week, I've been trying to figure out my sleep biorhythms. In other words, I'm trying to test and figure out what the best time is for me to wake up and during which parts of the day I'm most productive. I usually stay up very late, but this week I've been trying to get up early.

Tuesday, I woke at 5 a.m. I LOVE the calmness and stillness of that hour. Did a few stretches, prayed, ate breakfast...but I got so sleep around 6:30, that I went back to sleep.

This morning, I tried to push it to 6:30. I ended up wake up around 5 something and stayed up for a few minutes. I eventually went back to sleep again and woke up at about 9. Then took another nap.

I want to make a habit of waking up at 5 in the morning, but that means I would have to be in bed HECKA early which, being in college and all, is virtually impossible. I can't even fall asleep before midnight. I'm not sure if I'm more productive at night, but it's definitely calm, just like 5 a.m. feels. I usually stay up until at least 2:00 in the morning and get up around 10. I have an 8 o'clock class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though, so I have to be up at 6:30.

Tips?

Get an alarm clock. *kanyeshrug*
Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

I like that time too. That's why I dont go to sleep until 6am, though this week I've been going to sleep at like 7:30 am.  :-\

I'll assume that that's a rhetorical question. :D

What time do you wake up then? I don't like sleeping past 10 a.m. That feels too late.

I get up at 5 am every morning.  I am definitely dragging the whole day if I've had a late night the night before.  I do a lot better when I eat better, though.

I think it's pretty hard to establish a biorhythm while in college. I'm sure there are exceptions, but I wouldn't really put too much effort into that right now because it may not mesh with your realistic capabilities while living on campus.

I enjoy sleeping from 1a to 9:30a. Or 2-10. I'm not a morning person, and I just feel better when I can wake later. Obviously, I can't sleep like that so I typically go to sleep between 11p and 2a, and wake up around 7ish during the week. On the weekends, I sleep much later (which doctors advise against, but I don't see myself waking up at 7:00a on a day where I have no reason to get up that early). If you can, I'd suggest you try to train your body to wake up at 6 or 6:30.
When you're in love you don't want to fall asleep bc reality is finally better than your dreams.

I set my alarm for either 11 or 11:40 and hope my roomate does not wake me up before then.  >:(  I don't have to be to work until 1pm, so it just feels normal to me now. Getting up for church on Sundays is a beast though.
