Kakuro
« on: July 08, 2007, 07:10:27 PM »
Does anyone play this game?  It is similar to Sudoku, except it looks more like a crossword puzzle.  Each number can only be used once, and the number in the box is the sum of all the boxes vertical or horizontal.  I've found this game to be even more addicting than Sudoku.  Here is the link if yall wanna check it out:  http://www.menneske.no/kakuro/eng/

I've heard of it, T-Block.  I don't play either games though.

Here's a fun fact for you (because I speak Japanese). ;D  The name "sudoku" comes from the phrase:

suji wa dokushin ni kagiru (digits must occur only once)

As for kakuro,

kasan kurosu (addition cross)

Abbreviations like this are very common in Japanese.  (Probably the most familiar example would be "karaoke" which comes from "kara okesutora" [empty orchestra].)
