New drum from Covenant....
« on: May 11, 2007, 03:05:41 PM »
Here's a 13x7 maple shell with exotic Ash Burl outer ply....

I built this for Darius Kirksey.
This one has his signature inlayed in the finish just like my logo...

Long tube lugs and Stick-saver hoops... my favorite hoops BTW....

You saw it here first...  ;-)

Judging from the Slingerland drums we had in high school, it seemed (sonically) to be a cross between the control of die cast hoops, and the openness of a triple flanged hoop.

Stick saver hoops are a Slingerland style hoop which has the top edge rolled inward slightly give more of a rounded striking surface, thus prolonging the life of your sticks...
The hoops feel a little beefer, to me, that typical triple flange hoops...

Go back and look at this first pic and you'll notice that the striking edge bends inward, instead of outward...
and no it's not the same as those UGLY S HOOPS I saw at the namm show...lol

...I bet that snare would've been even better as a 6x14 or a 5x14. ;)

...keep up the beautiful work.

I'm not sure of the snare side, but here are some hoops for the batter (provided that those are six lugs): http://www.massmusic.net/shop/?itemid=18827

That's fine but those 12" hoops yamaha makes won't have the gate to run the snares through...
That calls for some custom hoops....
