When I first started I did play with a bass pick(Only because I didn't like the pain my fingers were feeling) After I practice and my fingers got use to the feel I've been plucking every since. Now on guitar I use a pick.
I'm destined for greatness!!!

You think that's tough... try breaking your fingers in for regular playing on an upright bass.  Those blisters HURT!  But as soon as the fingers have recovered and adjusted to it, you're good to go from then on.

To the original question: Nah, all fingers for me.

It depends on the sound one is looking for. I have never done more the "doodle" with a pick. I'm a fingers player. I know a lot of players  that ise a pic. If I were to play it a metal band I might move to pick. I don't see that happening.

When I "doodle on guitar I still use fingers/thumb.

Fingers all the way.  If anyone plays with a pick, then he/she should put the bass down.  I've never played with a pick and never will.

I notice that to be true too .... also it seems that some that transition from guitar to bass play with a pick

Fingers here .. although I wouldn't mind learning to play with a pick too

All finger pepl. With a pick i am sooo limited. U cant slap, u cant pop, u cant tap. Plus, my hand cant do that shape no more since i switched from guitar to bass so when i try and use a pick people laugh at me.

I guess it's all up to one's preference! I play with my fingers and thumb. I have discovered that quite a number of very famous r&b/funk tunes were, in fact, played with a pick. In particular, "For The Love Of Money" by the O'Jays (bassist: Anthony Jackson). The old school cats here will know that one. Also, many of the old Shalimar, Dynasty and Whispers tracks were played with a pick by either Leon Sylvers or Foster Sylvers.
