Bass Player gave a great review of these two basses.  I'll have to check one of these bad boys out for myself!

Back in March of last year I posted the same question.  The 5-strings version of his bass was not out yet.  Only two people responded and neither heard of the bass before.  The bass is very new.  I almost got the Jazz 24, but decided to go with Ibanez.

I have listen to the Jazz 24 being played by different base players and one was an instructor who was very impress with the sound.  The store I was at happen to have two on the wall.  I pulled one down and it sound really bad.  Ask them if they could tune it, they couldn't tune it and put it back up on the wall.  I pulled the 2nd one down which sound better, but the knobs where broken.  I have seen the knobs on this bass broken in other stores.  At first you think it was mishandle by a customer.  But, having seen this a few times, you begin thinking it's not built as well as it sounds.  A couple of times I have seen the price mark down on the bass because the customer returned it. All are signs that went against the Jazz 24.  So, I decided to go with something that has been around for a while. Plus, in the year and a half that I been hanging out at music stores,  I haven't seen one ibanez returned or with broken knobs.

If you are new to bass playing as I am, go with something that been around for a while that will fit your buget.  One good sign, store is having a hard time keeping them in stock.

Good luck ....

I like them both (as well as the new Squier line). I dig the 5 string. I'd probably install Hipshot tuners and a full string tree (so the B is covered as well). The price is right as well.
