I guess I'm a moron, I didn't even know he played guitar (but then again, I don't really listen to him, either). Decent P&W stuff. I need to expand out into this style a bit. Thanks for that.

Yea;His right hand is tight. His strumming,is really good.He use really easy chords. It go to show, you do not have to have fancy chords,to sound good,or hard chords to frett.Guitar players, seem to think, the harder a chord is to frett, the better it will sound.Quote;Joe P.said,he do not waste time, trying to frett hard chords.Hopefully, Israel will have a song book with this cd.Like he did before. :P :P

HEy Dave,

Can you post the chords for this song? I would appreciate it greatly.

hey bro, i hope i didn't come as being negative...i wasn't trying to be. i just always see guys posting asking for chords and tabs, and it just doesn't help you to get better. now, if you have gotten as far as you can and need some help, that's one thing......but no one ever became a good musician by taking the easy way all the time.

good luck, when you get stuck let us know, i haven't ran into anyone in the guitar forums that isn't willing to help with something.

Seeing how you're being encouraged to let your ear do some work for you, here's what I'll do:

I'll give you helpful hints.
The song is in the key of E. The first chord he plays is an E, very similar to the first chord in "You are Good"...and Israel plays almost all of the chords with the open E and B strings ringing.

Knowing that, give it a shot, listen carefully with your ears over and over and over again until the song structure is in your head and you can't get it out...so much so that you have to hum it out loud...it's at that point where you should be able to start figuring out the bass notes to the chords and the arrangement of them.

Work like that for a bit and then tell us what kind of progress you've made. I'll keep giving you hints as you need them.
Music theory is not always music reality.

to build on what Dave is saying.....we know the song is in E, so listen for the bass notes of the chords. if you know hot o harmonize a major scale, you should be able to figure out it out pretty quick. the second i i hear the bass note in a song,  i know what the chord should be.

music only does so many things within the structure of the given key (unless it's something that's really out there)........as your ear develops you'll instantly recognize extensions in chords, slash chords, etc.

This is all good info...except (and here's another hint)...the song is not actually in E major. It is in E but the bulk of the melody and chord progression are from the E mixolydian scale...except for the very first chord which is E major-based.

Isn't music theory FUN?!?!  ;D

this is where we'll have to agree to disagree  ;D

since the 5 chord is a major chord, i'd argue that it's E major with a flat 7 thrown in the verse progression......if he were playing a 5min or 5 min7 i'd agree that it was indeed mixolydian, since the flatted 7th degree always makes that chord a minor chord.

but i definitely see where you are coming from. and obviously various harmonies can be implied at anytime in a song, although it doesn't change the overall tonality of the song. for example, when people use the b6 - b7 - 1 progression in a song that is in a major key. sounds great, adds alot of drama to the sound, but still doesn't change the fact that it's a major key, even though those chords are diatonic to the minor of the smae key. (unless you are using some weird augmented/gypsy/middle-eastern scale)
