JFunky, you can not force a man to eat, even though he knows he's dying of music-malnutrition... Like G. Bush would say or attempt to, "did I put those two words together right."

I understand fully the note subdivisions and everything, but
sometimes its hard for me to find the 1 in songs that I hear in odd time measures
(for example, this vid) For some reason, I just don't hear the pattern

9/4 is in a Compound Time Signature where as the stressed notes are in multiples of three...the  1, 4 and 7 can be the stressed notes. Knowing the stressed notes can be a starting place, the composer is not limited to where these stressed notes may be placed. So, practicing these situations implementing different subdivisions can not be expressed enough for vast understanding.

Thank you for the compliment… No, I do not teach-I am self-taught. Striving, learning and applying that’s my loyalty, everyday putting in the time to learn these different concepts of music. Trust man music theory is not rocket science, become the rocket to explore and add to the science. I am a firm believe if another human is doing/has done it it’s humanly possible to go even further than that. Time is the answer…

And there it is...  This is a requirement, not an option if you wish to improve and further your knowledge in music (and everything else in life, lol).
