Keyboard Drums......

What up fam,

I just wanted you guys to check out a song I am working on for an artist. I did all the instrumentation but I want you drummers to check out the keyboard drums I laid down on it. I really would like to get your opinions on how it sounds. I am thinking about letting a real drummer get on this but working with a real tight budget so if this will suffice, I will use it.

For those who may want to know, I am using Reason 3.0 and the Reason Drum Kits for the drum sounds.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Dude!!! That was actually really enjoyable. The drums sounded really good, the only thing was that I couldnt really hear a lot of Hi hat or ride cymbal, but other than that it was SOLID!!!

Do you play drums? Usually guys who play drums (who let me hear their sequencing) don't quantize their drums, so they sound sloppy. But you have the right idea. As for the hi-hat, I think the reason Hotsticks said there was a lack was because it sounded like you were using open hats most of the time. That's cool, it worked out well.

Another thing I like that you did was realize that less is always more when you're using programmed drums. Sometimes you can fool people with a nice groove, but when you add too many rolls, things start to sound unrealistic. You did a VERY nice job of only incorporating fills that a real drummer would actually be able to do, and would have an easy time placing them where you did.

Nice job, Chief!  ;D

Ok, I am coming out multiple personality mode. I am "JMossProtege". I went ahead and deleted the account since I only created it when my main account was having some problems.

Appreciate the feedback on the song fam. You have really made me think about goin ahead and just keeping the drums as it is. One thing I will do is put a live bass player on top of it.

Yeah, the hats were open for most of the song plus I kind of put it behind the MPC track for test mixing purposes.

Feeling the love bro. I am a hobbyist drummer. I play here and there but I have put most of my focus on production these days. So a little bit of that is the actual drummer in me (the other part comes from influence of my mentor Terrance Vaughn). Glad you feelin it though.
