recording question
« on: July 03, 2007, 11:26:18 PM »
I been serious about my playing and ready to start recording myself to a click or to music so that I can critique myself. Does anyone know of any equipment that can do this? I herd of the garage band program, but it only operates on a Mac.

Audacity or Soundforge if you're looking for free. Infact, you could just use the sound recording function off XP if you've got $0 budget.

My personal favourites are Audacity for recording & CoolEdit Pro for editing. (Good luck trying to find CoolEdit now though). ;)

do these programs require a laptop?

if you want to put it right next to your drums.

what they do require is a mic if you dont have a laptop since most laptops come with built in mics

Whatever will run Windows XP (Notebooks or Desktops). It's really your choice.

I use ACID for everything right now. Its a mix of loop based and live and very affordable!!!! So you can have a loop going and solo over it (I use it for producing) With it I have an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB interface for my live bass, keys, vocals, drums, anything.

If you have money to spend I also have a Roland portastudio VS-1880
Mapex Drums, Grant Custom Basses, Carparelli Basses, Istanbul Cymbals,!
