Ocean Basses at Guitar Center????????
« on: June 02, 2007, 03:07:55 PM »
Has anyone played on of these? I've never heard of the brand but these things are bad to the bone. It has a active/passive switch on the front which is nothing new. The tone is awesome. Here is the thing, the 4 string goes for 750 and the 5 only 50 more bucks. If you haven't had a chance (and there is a GC close to you) try it out. I'm thinking of trading in my ESP LTD for this thing. It sounded way better that my ESP (which are made more for Rock music I've been told)

Give me your opinions family.

I know this is kind of old, but I played one yesterday at the GC in Dallas, they are sweeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!! They have a big sale right now for their  43 year anniversary. I got a book in the mail with their August sales and they have them in there for around $749-$799 depending onf 4 or string....they have Bartolini humbucking soapbar pickups, Bartolini 3-band EQ, master vol, pickup balance, bass, middle, trebele and EQ on/off switch, hipshot tuners...and more

I played one at guitar center also & was not very impressed. It didn't have enough bottom, felt good though. If you have played  Cort basses, then thats the same tone, they are made by CORT.  Actually it's the same as their neck through, they just slapped a different name on them,  Just could not get the tone I was looking for. I must say though, the GC in my area keeps there displays jacked up. half the time they don't keep fresh batteries in their basses, & their amp & cabinet displays are horrible. maybe i'll go back & try them again, since Quebass86 say they sound sweeeeeet!!!!!!!!

It may have been the setup I was playing through that made it sound good to me. It felt good and have a nice fast neck action for me. I doubt I will buy one, but if I was starting out and wanted to get an decent bass for a reasonble price I could see buying one. What trips me out is you can go on musicianfriend.com and buy a  string Peavey for under $500!
