After reading a quote like that I just have to respond back. Thank you and God Bless. This entire website and others have been the inspiration of putting this info together. Remember that reading sheet music and hymns help improve your ministry as well. But take your time and stay committed.

FIRST LADY: Thank you First Lady. I've never been called jewels before, but it's all good. God Bless.

TAMMY: Thanks, but remember that sheet music and hymns are still important in learning. Just this pass Sunday I had to read a hymn sheet and I was 'fumbling', but I kept with it until I added my own style from playing by ear. It's all good. God Bless.

You're welcome!  I agree, sheet music and hymns are important to learning.  I still play by sheet music some, but mostly from fake books (which just have the melody line), chord charts, and we do play some hymns at church.  It's important for all musicians not only to be able to play by ear, but also to play by sheetmusic/lead sheets and hymns.  It's important to be a well-rounded musician.

God bless! :)

Thank you so much.  I know that this took a lot of work - it's important that hymns stay fresh in our minds and that we play them in church (and not just for Sunday School).  I was amazed at how many people in the congregation did not know the words to Pass Me Not, Because He Lives and There is a Fountain.  Once again - thank you.

Yes and straining my eyes :o, but it's all good. We all have to do our best in making sacrifices, for we can't have icecream and peach cobbler at the same time (Just a theory). God Bless you too, and the other Saints.

This is so awesome!!  You are so awesome!!  You really broke it down so I could understand, and I absolutely love the info on fillers--I can't find much on how to play filler music for hymns.
I know this took a lot of time, but I also know that many, many of us have been helped and truly blessed by this.  This will help me so much as I'm a new piano player for our senior choir.  Right now I'm pretty self-conscious and don't have much confidence in my playing, but I'm playing on faith that God will stand up within me.  I pray each time that God will guide my fingers and continue to build my confidence.

Again, this is so awesome!!   Thank you so much for the post, and thank you for listening

Be Blessed
