Question, i was thinking of buying a higher quality cabs, however, what about if i replace the speaker in my cab (Peavey) with maybe some Ampeg speakers, will it give me a totally better sound or even that ampeg tone? Just curious

well there are a lot of factors to look at. The cabinet and the air space more than likely were designed for that speaker. If it has a port that also is speaker specific. By putting in a different speaker you could get a port whistle or all and all just a really crappy sound. But I'm comparing Car audio to bass cabinets so it could be apple to oranges. I would like to try and build my own someday.
