Oh, he forgot to mention the little 6ths thing? It's really nothing special--a Strat with WAY TOO MUCH compression, and some basic pents and a little 6ths string skipping thing.  :)

No offense, but it's amazing what passes for "killer" guitar work from person to person. That wouldn't even have perked my ear had I passed it on the radio.

yeahm, the 6ths thing was the double stops i was referring to anyway, along with blues doubvle stops he does when he references the minor pentatonic sound. it fits the song and it's cool and all, but it's pretty basic country/blues stuff.

I was being silly lol ;) You're right, those are double stops, too. I was just dumbfounded by the previous comment, that's all.

Oh, it definitely fits the song, but it's not spectacular (not that I am, to be clear, I'm just saying...)

Yeah, it seems like they do it kinda "sideways" lol

Like it's:

Open the flood gates of Heaven
Let it rain
Let it rain

but hey, you gotta give it to them, it was probably the easiest song ever written. "hey, let's take this 3 line song, sing the last line first, DONE!!"

Hey, as long as something is different enough to keep me out of court, I'm in... lol (I'm kidding!)

i'm sorry we didn't type in a detailed description of how every note was played.  8)

"here he we have a whole step bend from the a to the b follwed by slide into the double-stopped 6ths from a a half step below and the sliding aforementioned double-stopped 6ths down the major scale diatonically until he implies a mixolydian/dominant tonality by sliding from the double stop on the 1 to the b7.....etc)

i don't think anyone has the time or the space to be that specific....

ahhh..again you suspect little because you listen little...listen again grasshopper... :)

I think this started it... lol ;) All in good fun.

But for the record, the guy didn't display any off-the-wall technique that 65% of the dudes at your Guitar Center couldn't pull off. I think that was the point.

If it sounds good to you, great, but don't get offended if someone pulls the curtain away from what appeared to be amazing to you.

If nothing else, this brings everyone closer to being able to do it themselves, rather than them keeping it at arm's length due to fear of not being able to touch it.

lol, ok.

all i said was that it wasn't anything difficult. that wasn't a judgement or an indictment, just a comment. something doesn't have to be difficult to be good, that's not what i'm implying. i just want the guys that post here to know that the stuff they hear and think is amazing is something that is attainable, and isn't that hard. so if is say it's "just pentatonics, etc", that means they can sit down with their guitar and work towards figuring it out.....it doesn't mean that i'm saying it's crap because it's simple.

some seriously defensive people around here sometimes.

some seriously defensive people around here sometimes. Really?? If that be THE TRUTH, why did you not dismiss Let It Rain as just a simple four chord progression...Im sorry if I miss your conclusive nature but you have gaps in your explanations...or could it be THIS IS A SONG YOU LIKE...(lol) just wondering???

the only gap here is your ability to comprehend. why quote what i'm saying if your not even going to read it and try to understand??

like i said, i wasn't DISMISSING ANYTHING.......i was simply stating that it wasn't difficult, pointing out that it's something anyone could learn with a little work. the only reason this is an issue is because it's the song YOU posted. the reason i didn't mention let it rain is because it's obvious it's a 4 chord progression....and the reason everyone mentioned it is because of the Dubos solo, not the progression.

i don't understand why it offends you so much that i said the guitar part was simple. it seems like that would be encouraging to people that read that. please show me where i said anything derogatory about the song....i'd love to see it.
