To all pianist,
You all have great teaching methods to share with all up and coming pianist. but i have one question to ask. when do you called yourself lengend or a professional piano player. 2yrs, 8yrs, or 20 yrs of playing, developing your own style of playing, or because you can play in every key so you proclaim yourself as a legend or professional. do you have to follow all the rules, progession, and formuals to become a great piano player.

Why do you need to call yourself any of those things? Can't you just be a piano player? :-\
Despite our communication technology, no invention is as effective as the sound of the human voice.

I think the title of being a "legend" or "professional" depends on your status as a board player. I mean...if you are well known, admired, and looked up to world wide for playing the keyboard, and have been for the last 50 years....then your obviously a legend. As far as being professional, if you play for a professional group, or choir touring and gettin paid every weekend, then you're obviously a professional. As a professional, there are more than likely other musicians in old rinky dink country family ran churches that are BY FAR better talented than you (as a professional) but that doesn't make them a professional though. Hope this helped....somewhat. Come on yall.....elaborate
Keys, bass, drums, trombone, I sing a lil bit too lol

Cosign...

Just be the best piano player you can be...What you or others title yourself doesn't matter, eventually some may call you a legend, others may think you are a true professional and still some may think you the worst pianist they ever heard :D.  All you can control is striving to do your best at whatever it is.

The number of years you play has nothing to do with any of it...you hear all the time, this or that artist is a legend in their own time and they may have only been on the charts for 2 yrs, its just someone's opinion.

Bro,

I agree with two of the replies .. just be a board player & the rest will fall in place naturally.

I've only been playing for just over a year and a bit, but in my mind I believe that every Sunday I am helping people to get closer to God during praise & worship. For me that's more important than anything else.

Be the blessing.

Being recognized as a great or professional anything comes from what others say about you.  If you are exposed to the public and word gets around about u, then society will say things like that.

The main thing is you need to be happy within yourself about your playing.  Don't worry about trying to be a professional, just do the best you can.
Real musicians play in every key!!!
