I am the new Minister of Music for my church, I am looking for a lot of advice, like how can I tell a musician what I fell is missing or what's wrong when I don't know anything about their instrument? I'm new to this so I don't a lot of chords, I play the guitar now going on 3+ years, going forward what can you share with me? my drummer is 16 and he's out of controll, has the tools but do not know how to use them.

...for starters, pray so that God can give you the wisdom and knowledge to guide the musicians of the future and to mold them.  The next thing is that you have to tell your drummer the expectations of your music dept.  Get ideas and fellowship with other M.D.'s and M.O.M.'s.  Learn and listen to everybody.  Take the good and leave the bad.

J-Stank has some great words of advice.

I have been blessed to be put into a leadership role in the funk band that I play in.  I am the assistant MD.  All of the guys in the band are old enough to be my parents.  I was worried about how my advice would be received because many of them have children my age (remember I am only 21).  What I have been doing is using the delivery of my high school band director. Maybe you have an instructor or coach that really knew how to get the best out of you.  Thats what I recommend for starters.

GOD bless you doc.  Hope this helps.
