funStrat's Rant of the Day!!!

Well it's not that serious, but here's the thing.  I work in the hotel industry and I am just amazed at how many people call to make a reservation with absolutely no idea as to what dates they need!  So LGM'ers, the next time you call a hotel to make a reservation please have your arrival and departure dates straight; I feel that this is a simple and reasonable request.  On behalf of my hospitality colleagues, I thank you for your kind attention to this minor little detail.  (We now return to the rest of the day which is already in progress!) ;D

I used to work for Holiday Inn Reservations in Salt Lake, and you'd be surprised how many people call and are clueless as to the specifics.  It's like they call just to see what sounds good. 

I wish I had it like that, where I could just shop for a vacation and pick what sounds good, LOL.

That's kinda what I was thinking, Nessa.

Sometimes travellers either just want to get rates for different weekends, or sometimes, you just want to know a ball park figure of how much the hotel charges.

Is it that bad to have to say, "I'm not sure which dates, the 3rd weekend in June, perhaps?"

I dunno....

I guess everyone is entitled to their pet peeves.  Lord knows I've got a mile-long list... lol.

The problem, from what Ive seen, in the planning of the event, the people who decide to call a hotel are not the decision-makers. They think just by calling the hotel, checking rates, thats all there is to it, and the committee can now put a check mark beside that Item because they've done it. If everybody who called for info had the credit-card, and the trigger finger, you'd have a lot less calls.
