What's your top Gospel DVD/Video?
« on: July 13, 2007, 04:52:04 PM »
I Love to watch some good bass players playing Gospel Music. I love it so much that I stop buying cd and started a Gospel DVD/ Video collection. Since the music is live, sometimes I get to see the bass player do some trick and licks and I even get to see the bass set up etc.

Many times, things are on dvd/video that is not on the cd. Here is my top 15 Gospel Videos that has really help me as a Gospel Bass player. Trust me it will help you guys especially the beginners if you invest in some of these Videos. They are no Victor Wooten, But they will make you want to go pick up your bass and get your grove on. Its good to recognize and appreciate our own Brothers and Sisters in the Ministry.

15 Mississippi Mass Choir – Essential Collection

14 Byron Cage- Live

13. Kirk Franklin – The rebirth of kirk franklin

12 Rev James Moore – Joy

11 John P Kee- Absolutely Live

10 Israel Haughton and new Breed – Live From another level (Video editing poor but great DVD)

9 Bishop Paul Morton – let it rain

8.Hezekiah Walker – Family Affair (check out the intro)

7 Ricky Dillard -  Unplugged...The Way the Church Used to Be

6 Fred Hammond – Pages of life

5 Tye tribbett – Victory  ( you can’t see the bass player or his set up)

4 Mississippi Children’s Choir- When God’s Children get together (don’t think its kiddies stuff. The bass lines are really great and consist of various kinds of helpful theories)

3 Fred Hammond – Purpose by design

2 DEBRA KILLINGS – SURRENDER (a must get for bass player at any level)

1 KIRK WHALUM – GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JAZZ (this is the best ever for any musician. Please get it :'()

What is your Top Gospel Videos/DVD???

My favorite is Fred Hammond "Speak those things" Live in Chicago.
Now my honorable mentions are:
Fred Hammond "Purpose by Design" (get to see Fred and Maurice play)
Bishop Trotter's "Already Looking Bettah" and "Tell the Devil I'm Back" (Mo Fitz)
Isreal and New Breed "Another Level" although I hated the delay (Terrance Palmer)

I'd like to find this one... I've seen the clip on youtube and would like to see the rest of the concert.
