Im just starting out on electric bass and was wondering how good are Rogue basses to start with. Overall tone and quality of the bass. How long it will last and that other good stuff. Im thinking about getting a Rogue LX205B 5-String Bass and a Rogue LX200BF Fretless 4-String Bass. GOD BLESS!!!!!

This bass player that plays at my church sometimes has a Rogue 6 string. It sound pretty good to me. He had is autographed by Steve Bailey. I felt it a little last sunday and it feels alright as far as moving around the neck. I would by it. It looks good too. Also on the musiciansfriend web site the picture of the 6 string bass only has 4 knobs but the one he has has 5 knobs. I think the picture is old. The 6 string at musicians friend may still be $199 on holiday sale. Im guessing you will have a little trouble if you try to resale the bass since its so cheap. You might not get back as much trying to sell it to a store.

rogue is something I am considering, the six string I mean, as of right now a 6er will never be my main weapon so I may never buy a $400 or more 6. the rogue is perfect. looks good has to "work".

I heard a guy play a fret-less four, he had some skill, it sounded out of sight not so much like a fretless kinda like in between a fretless and a fretted. it sounded great.

If anyone owes one of these basses could they tell me how they feel I'm in the market for a 5 and a 6 but I don't wanna spend a lot of money seeing how my 4 will stay number one.

You should check out rondomusic they have great customer service from my experience.

My new 6 string seems pretty nice to me but I dont know as much about basses. I think the disadvantage is that it is built on 34" scale and only has volume, balance, bass and treble. I know they say something about a floppy B string on 34" scale but mine doesnt flop that I know of. I got to get used to plucking. The strings seem to be normal in spacing. I will have to get a good bass player to play it to know how good of a deal I got. They sold out of these basses during christmas but I got the last one.  :D Its display model but it is brand new I guess no one was playing it because the fret board was not worn or the frets and it still had the plastic on it.

Here's the link to my bass they took it off the main site until they get more in later this year.

The guy at my church has that rogue 6 string and it sound pretty good and feels alright for me being a beginner but I think mine looks a little better because its bright. I would have to play his then mine in order to know how good either one is on sound.

I'm considering purchasing the 6 string but i need a visual on this bass since they do not carry them at guitar center and i would have to order online.  Here are my questions.

The neck, is the neck pretty wide or is it narrow then most other 6 strings? Reason why is because i do not have large hands so if this is really for larger hands then it will help me make a clearer decision on my choice.

2nd question.  how often does a 6 string play a part in gospel.  Is it really good for just soloing or does it not matter?

Thanks!

I don't have one but a guy at a church in denton has one and the neck is narrow..I think it would be ok for you, like you I have smaller hands. My widest neck bass is my Ibanez BTB and that is on a 5 string. The six string basses with the smaller necks that I like are the rogues and the peavey's...for the price you really can't beat them.

As far as the six string, if you are soloing or doing alot of chords....I am going to get one to work on my chords and having that C string seems to make it alot easier from watching others. When you get it bring it up to Music Go Round on a saturday so I can check it out. I haven't seen any at GC either.
May God's Grace & Mercy smile upon you!
