Hammond C2

I just bought a C2 for $500. It has had only one owner and was purchased in 1951. Is this Organ good enough for a church setting. We have no organ player and I play keys at church but am making a switch and have a long ways to go. PLEASE GIVE SOME INPUT. THANKS & GOD BLESS!!!

No way! thats not good enuff! what you should do is go head and let me take that off yo hands......no just kidding. Thats a steal! the only real diference, i think is the c2 does not have the percussion. But thats great deal!

The main difference between the C-2 and C-3 is lack of percussion, which isn't a big deal because many gospel organists don't use percussion.  If you want percussion, you can easily install it using an aftermarket Trek II percussion unit.

The other, and more important, difference is the tone generator.  The very first C-2s had a slightly different tone generator than the C-3s.  I am not sure of the difference in sound.

Either way, a C-2 is definitely good enough for a church setting.  I worked out the purchase of a C-2 two years ago and installed it to a 147 in a church I play for and it screams!

hey bro,another good source of info is bt productions -tony labrasca or bill brown at bb organ.if's yours is a really old organ you need to check into replacining the a/c wire before it shorts and burns be blessed! that treck 2 is a good way to go for and upgrade.if your preamp is suspect or shot,trek 2 has a replacement with percussion,i think which may save you some $,i'm replacing my preamp today,1955 B3 with one from an A100 that tony helped me wih,praise LORD with the ORGAN!!!

Following up on the TG type, if you've got a C-2, it should have a 91-frequency tone generator.  I did more research and realized it's the 82-frequency tone generators that aren't so good (Hammond was cutting corners after WWII).  Again, just compare the organ's serial number against the page I listed above to make sure it has one of later 91-frequency tone generators.
