A short interview with one of my favorites. Check out this info Mr. Moore is sharing, especially about being diverse in your musical knowledge. If you're pursuing a career as a professional musician, you've gotta hit all corners musically. He also gives it up to God for blessing hm with his gift. Shows a sense of being humble despite of his status in the game.
Perfect example of musical diversity. A few years back, I played behind Kimberly Locke before she was on American Idol. I was filling in for the regular drummer. I went in there not having a clue what they were gonna play. Just random Top 40 songs were on the list. Ms. Locke sang "Is It A Crime" by Sade. I am a fan of Sade, so I knew it. I have very diverse musical tastes overall, so I'm listening to everything I can just for this type of situation. Anyway, I just played the song and made sure I nailed all of the stops, accents, and fills as on the original recording. After the gig, Ms. Locke came up to me and told me that I was the only drummer that ever played that song right. When you do it like that, people will spread your name around and you will get work.
Seek real knowledge yall.
