Weekend Shed...Football Season
« on: September 07, 2007, 09:20:31 AM »
Ok my fellow bassists...you know what time it is for me....so let's get the prayer started...

"God we thank you for another week that you have brought us through, we thank you for this online ministry that you have provided for us that allows us to share and grow in the spirit of our musical gifts and talents. We thank you for allowing us to be in contact with other christian brothers and sisters who wish to please you and uplift your name with the sounds of the bass....Please anoint our hands, fingers, minds and hearts as some of us will be playing this weekend at our churches, programs and other christian venues..Keep us all safe  as we travel to and fro...We ask these blessings in the name of your Son JESUS CHRIST..AMEN".....

I pray that all of you tear it up with the LOW End and do your thang, do your thang....I was listening to some songs this week and there were no basses  in them, I came to realize in my own "infinite wisdom"  ;D that music without the bass is like:

 1. Eating catfish and collard greens with no "hot sauce" or "mustard for those like my wife who prefer that on their catfish"
 2. Eating churches chicken ( 2 piece and a pepper combo) with no "red soda"
 3. Drinking Koolaid that ain't "red"
 4. Fred Sandford with no "Aunt Ester or Grady"
 5. Don King with "no hair"

Last thing...I know football season is underway so we will all see some fluctation in our home churches  :o...let's keep our minds on Christ and not short change the service to get home to watch our favorite team...I say that because I have played with musicians like that in the past and they forget all about the service because they are watching the clock, cutting songs short to shorten up the service, etc....but I know none of us will do that .. ;D

You know what's next...Now go forth and THUMP IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!!!!! HAVE A BLESSED WEEKEND!!!!
May God's Grace & Mercy smile upon you!

today was off the chain. me and the drummer was holdin it down. and it got hot several times during service. i was fumbling a little bit here and there cause i gotta get used to the new strings on my bass (DR Long Necks) so the tension was a bit tighter than the old pair. i was like in the zone and a couple of people told me they saw me over there and i was going at it. i sure do know i was feelin good. Thats that feelin i wanna get every time i play. it'll get to that point soon i believe. that kind of playing seems to drain me a bit, though.

i pulled out my arsenal though. it was like everything i been practicing or knew, it came out in some fashion.
For my God... let "Golden Axe" prevail.

That's how you do it! hahaha!! I feel ya......It is a wonderful feeling when you get in that spiritual zone and everything you do sounds right and fits in the right place.....We had a wonderful spiritual jam session today. Today was youth sunday and they showed out! We did my desire(Kirk/Hammond) and a couple of songs that one of the musians wrote...the church was rockin, the pastor was preachin and the Holy Spirit was amoung us..

I trust and pray that others had the same experience today....Let's here it fellow bassists....
May God's Grace & Mercy smile upon you!

for praise & worship the last song was "i call you holy" and when it got to the "yeah" part, it took off. i was pullin out everything. my drummer was gettin in sych with me and we was hittin 'em hard.
then later on the youth choir sang and the 2nd song was "keys to the kingdom" but i was playing parts from the milton brunson version cause the bass was sick on that and i was getting into it with that.

the thing is we was rockin in rehearsal for our adult choir saturday evening, so i guess that was a continuation
