15. You have to bring and set up a kit every Sunday!

16. Not being paid what you're worth!

17. Not being paid!

18. You look out and all you see is gray hair!

19. Sound Men who think Church should be run at 80 Dbl

20. People blaming you because the sound people suck!

21. People who come and tell you that you're talented but that their son or son in law is better then you!

22. Women who come and BUG & BEG you to give their Son a chance to play because they are very talented......You feel for the guy and give them a chance, they SUUUUCCCCCK!!!! THEN the worship leader comes and tells you never to do that again!

23. No money for sticks!

24. The Pastors Son play es and the only time you get to play was if he didn't show up or after the preaching or he cut his leg open and couldn't play for months!

25. You go to a Church to play and they have Camber Cymbals, CB 700 drum kit with 12, 13, 16, Toms 14 snare all beaten to hell factory heads and you forgot your key!

26. Drum set circa. 1969

27. Md's loops suck so bad that you end up turning it down in your head set, and he keeps playing them in the service!

28. Guys who think that Church drumming is a drum off!

29. Someone took the bottom heads off!!

30. The usher brings the offering plate up to you and holds it out expecting you to give him your money and you're in the middle of drumming!

These are all things Ive hated over the 21 years of Church drumming Ive done!!! I just needed to vent!!!! LOL I was still holding things from 1986!!!

Lol... bbd got issues.

We all got issues though in some form or another.

1.older drummers that are stuck in the 80's playing style and don't want to let drumming go....lol, (I mean give it up, you had your prime 20 yrs ago)

2. percussion players who don't know how and when to play and have a setup thats bigger than your drumkit, and more cymbals than the drummer ie. they play congas and bongos real loud to be heard on the slow worship songs.... and then when the leader breaks the band, and signals for the drummer to keep playing wit the MPC, the percussiinist thinks its his time to shine.......

3. muscians who don't have that musical approach to the songs they play, everything must blast loud as jacks or they don't feel like they done the instruments justice. ie: a drummer once told me you ain't playing drums right unless you're busting heads and got stick chips all over the place or breaking cymbals and sticks.....so whack, again they're stuck back in the day (stubborn)

4. muscians who make the uglyiest faces and sound terrible, i think there smelling there own playing....lol

5. when someone other than the MD or bass player tries to tell to play louder or give them more...lol, I mean who are you? if you were capable of doing it better you would be in my seat, and then after the set everyone is giving props or whateva and that person is looking stupid because you payed them no attn, and you get a kick out of ignoring them and then you ask, what were you saying...lol

1.I can't stand 80's drummers!! ahhh!! drive me crazy!!

2. Drummers who do repetitive fills that DON'T sound good at all!

3.The drummers that give you the Head nodd lettin you know that they want to get on... I hate that BTW... and then when they sit down at the kit they.... SUCK!

4. Drummers who do fills ALL OVER THE PLACE in worship songs!...

But dude. We got to get ours too

just kidding.

It irritates me too when guys get up on percussion and just hit stuff. No real approach, no adding value. If they know what they are doing, and how to play the instruments, that would not be an issue. But just like on the kit, people just want some spotlight and will just hit stuff thinking they are doing well...especially if people boost their ego falsely. In gospel, congas probably work best when you ar eplaying an ostanato groove. There's time to free up and solo etc, but most times, play off the drummer and add color.

Spectator : "Hey you really ministered on those drums today!"
FH Drummer: "Man...what are you talking about? I can't play AT ALL"
I mean REALLY. Just say "thank you" and keep it moving.

3. Drummers who don't know about the equipment they play on (i.e- using pliers to adjust wingnuts

)

4. Experienced drummers that don't respect new drummers (As if THEY always knew how to play $:-\$ )

5. Ill-tuned drums that make you're playing sound bad, even you're a pretty decent drummer.

#2 is an area where a lot of us really don't know what to say and the wrong thing comes out when they really meant good. I've been there, done that. I feel that yeah, we must say, "Praise God and thank you" because the gift came from the Creator and Giver of all gifts but we also are allowed to receive a lil' praise because "some of us" do work hard at our gifts and it feels good to hear that you're appreciated and that someone's life was touched by the talent that God gave you. *Now, if you're playing to get praised, then you're wrong.*

This is not being conceded at all so the "Churchy Crowd" can back off.

Liar! I saw you playing in some band at Chuckie Cheese! I went up to tell you good job and you didnt even look at me! You just kept playing and moving like a robot but didnt say one word! The whole band didnt talk! You guys were good but very conceited!!!

Exactly J, good response. I have also responded in a similar way like what teflon said. It just came out because I didn't know what to say. But know I just say " Praise God and Thank You, I really appreciate that " something like that. But sometimes some people tell me " You did good " but then they tell me the same thing like five times whenever they see me during the whole service and after the service. And it's the same person or group of people that tell me. Now that just get's awkward. By that time i'm just like "nah I suck" or something like that. And I really do feel that way but whatever. GB.

You know what? I don't have a list of five.....but I have this one thing that happened to me with this particular choir like twice. We were guest singing @ Hofstra college and the choir I was playing for had two songs to sing. One was a really fast tempo song and the other was a slow "come to worship song" The two songs were in that same order up until we went on stage. Then the choir director changes his mind and switches the order without telling me, but of course told everyone else including the musicians (who thought that I knew). So of course on the fast song (I thought we were playing) I started with a fast four count which had an "amazing blazing" fill only to find everyone looking at me strange, playing a very slow rendition of "I will bless the Lord Oh my soul......".

totally terrible.

34. Playing at a Church full of old Jamaicans and playing hymns from the 70's set to reggae and soca ALL NIGHT!!!

35. Playing at an old white person Church and playing Country all day long!

36. Your wife always complaining because you took too long to pack up your stuff!

37. I shoulda sat on the toilet before I left this morning!

38. The one song that sang every week!

39. Shouts that last 3 hours after the preaching or go until 11pm (night service)

40. The M.D. stinks but you have to try to respect him/her every week!

41. Someone coming up and asking "cant you just use brushes?"
