Need help with organ at Funeral home
« on: September 23, 2007, 04:42:02 PM »
I have a Hammond a-100 at the church where I play and I've played a Hammond m-100.  I am suppose to play for a funeral and I went today to see what organ they have and I have no idea how to work this thing.  It has tabs only.  Can someone help me out with what to do tomorrow??  PLEASE!!!  I just need to  know how to get a ok sound out of it.
TIA

what brand is it? console? spinet?  best quess is look for some of the flute tabs and try for similar footages like on a hammond,ie 8',4',2' etc.maybe add vibrato if it's not cheesy. no matter what make,not gonna be a b3.try and pray 4 you,good luck!

Thanks,
It's a console....I think.  It's pretty big, lots of tabs all the way across.  They said I could go and practice early so i'll do that and try the flute tabs.  I didn't even look at the brand.  Do keep me in prayer!

Along with the recommendation for things along the lines of flute, also look for things with " diapason ". Things with this name on the organ usually give you that good mix of the regular organ sound that you wound find on the hammond.Usually is this is one of the first things I look for on organ that I may not be able to find the regular drawbars that I would find on a hammond.

Also to give some more help, here are a few things that i would look for to use to carry out a funeral ( modest kinds of things )

Strings= slow melody type of thing over chords in left hand
Gedeckt= pedals
flute=chording/smooth sound

I pray this helps, God Bless

Thanks everyone for the help.  Everything went good.  It was a Conn 621F sounded like a pipe organ.  It had presets so I just used those....
